Dear Henderson:

I have food allergies to milk products.  Do you have information on food allergies as they apply to each of your products?  Which of your sushi products contain no milk products?

Sincerely,
Dealing With Allergies

Dear Dealing With Allergies,

Within our large variety of products we have something for just about every dietary need.  When considering sushi to match a dietary restriction always read the labels.  Product information for each Banzai Sushi variety can be found by clicking the products picture on our product lists.  Below are some suggestions for sushi varieties which fit within common food allergies.

Lactose Intolerance

While most sushi varieties contain no milk, some of our products contain cream cheese; the Seattle roll, the California roll made with real crab, Mt. Fuji roll, Asparagus and cream cheese roll, Shrimp Salad roll,  Salmon and cream cheese party roll,  and all Yomame rolls.

Vegetarian

Banzai offers rolls which contain no fish.  These varieties are the futomaki roll, vegetarian roll, shiba maki roll, daikon maki roll, asparagus roll, tsunami roll, garden fresh roll, red beet roll, inari sushi, egg omelette nigiri, and all yomame rolls.

Nut Allergies

No Banzai Sushi products contain peanuts.  However, many of our sushi varieties contain sesame seeds, and all are made with the same equipment meaning there may be sesame contamination on any of the products.

Wheat

There are a couple ingredients present in some of our sushi which contain wheat.  Soy sauce contains wheat and is present in the ungai roll, tsunami roll, mt. fuji roll, and futomaki roll.  Wheat starch is also contained in the unagi roll, shrimp salad roll, California salad roll, and California roll with surimi.

Shell Fish

While the type of fish used in the rolls or nigiri is generally obvious, here are a couple items to watch for; unagi roll and all California varieties contain crab, as well as others with crab in the name.

Hopefully these suggestions are helpful when eating sushi.  Remember, when verifying a sushi variety for a diet with restrictions always read the labels.

Happy sushi eating!

Henderson Mar
